Gateway Summer Camp 2007

by Gateway Church - June 1, 2007

summer_camp_3.jpgIncoming 6th graders through exiting 12th graders are all welcome and encouraged to be a part of this year's Summer Camp at Ponderosa Pines. Unlike anything Gateway has done before, this camp experience is sure to create lasting memories that will truly impact your students for eternity.

Although camp registration is now officially over, here's what the kids who signed up get to look forward to.

"Armato con Saggezza" is the Italian phrase for "Armed with Wisdom." This summer at camp, we’ll tackle the tough subject of "Discovering God’s Will" from the perspective of seeking wisdom. Solomon said: "How much better it is to get wisdom than gold!"

We will take this challenge seriously by exploring questions such as, "What is God’s will?" "How do I know God’s will?" and "How can I live a life of wisdom in accordance with the will of God?" Your students are sure to leave camp with a better grasp of what it means to understand and do the will of God. They will leave "armed with wisdom!"

summer_camp_tires.jpgPonderosa Pines will play an important role in the lives of teenagers this summer.  We are a community that values people.  A student discovers that their value is not based on performance, nor is it based on their appearance, talent or skills.  Consequently, they experience the freedom and the joy of being accepted as a person created in the image of God.

This is a wholesome, positive environment in which the love of Jesus is demonstrated in the context of meaningful worship, challenging messages from God’s Word, along with great fun and adventure.  In this environment students not only hear and read about loving one another, they experience it.

summer_camp_swim.jpgFor thousands of young people each year, Ponderosa Pines is a memory – an experience that will become a significant spiritual milestone in their life. Something that will be said under a tree or experienced at the campfire will impact them so that they want to live differently.  They will want to become a better person.  Don’t miss this great opportunity!

Gary Rea (Worship Leader)

summer_camp_gary.jpgGary Rea is a worship leader and song writer from Cape Town, South Africa. He and his family now live in San Clemente, CA where he leads worship for Heritage Christian Fellowship. Gary has been writing and singing worship songs since he was 11 years old and from that very young age has felt God’s call on his life to be in music ministry.

After high school he attended Bible College in Cape Town for 3 years during which time he started a band with his close friends called Peculiar People. Gary was the singer and song writer for the group who travelled extensively throughout South Africa, U.K. and the United States, sharing Jesus through music and leading people in worship. The Peculiar People days are now over but Gary is still focusing on his calling to lead people in worship and to write and record songs that glorify God!

Don't miss it!
