Gateway Church

10 Years and Counting!

mark_janet.jpgIf you have attended Gateway any amount of time over the last 10 years, you know that there is always reason to celebrate. Gateway Church has been active and present in the community of El Cajon, East County, and all over the world for well over a decade.

With vibrant children, student, young adult, men, women, and senior adult ministries, Gateway has been blessed over the years, and in turn has been a blessing to many others.

One of the ways that God has grown and blessed the church has been through the steadfast leadership and vision of Pastor Mark Jappe. On Sunday, we celebrated over a decade of service that he and Janet have given to the church. People have been saved, ministries have been formed, lives have been changed, and memories have been made throughout the years that this dynamic people-focused duo has been with us at Gateway.

During the service, Pastor Lance preached about unity, reminding the congregation of our great need to be in one accord as the Body of Christ. This is something that has always resonated in Pastor Mark's sermons. For years he has taught in our new members’ class that just like the human body works together with all of its parts, the Body of Christ is designed to function as one, serving and loving each other.

A video tribute was presented to the Jappe's recalling fun memories from friends and family, and reminding us how so many people have been influenced by Pastor Mark. The picture slideshow was a fun stroll down memory lane!

At the end of the service, Pastor Mark and Janet were presented with a complimentary trip to Alaska from friends and family of Gateway Church. Jim Craig, one of Pastor Mark's advisors, mentors, and close friends closed the service in prayer, asking that God continue to bless the years to come.

Thank you, Pastor Mark and Janet, for being such an integral part of Gateway Church!
