Stromberg and Others to Come to Gateway!

by Gateway Church - February 23, 2005

This is a very exciting month at Gateway.  As Easter arrives, we eagerly celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  This is a time where many people open their hearts to the message of salvation.  It is our duty to pray for, love, and share with those around us who do not know Jesus as Lord of their life.  We want to make it easy, fun, and exciting to invite your friends and family to Gateway during these weeks leading up to our Easter celebration.  We have some outstanding guest speakers and entertainers lined up to reach those who might otherwise be skeptical of the whole "church thing."

Melissa_Disney1.jpgMelissa Disney (right) is a relative of the Walt Disney, and although her name is very recognizable by association, her own accomplishments place her in a league of her own! A talented voice-over actress, Melissa currently lends her voice to the lead character in Nickelodeon's hit cartoon, As Told by Ginger.  She has many film and television credits to her name, and you have likely (unknowingly) heard her voice narrating some of the most popular movie trailers.  Melissa is also an accomplished singer/songwriter and will be performing some original songs here at Gateway on Sunday, March 13.

AurelioB.jpgAurelio F. Barreto (right) has an amazing testimony.  A multi-millionaire before he was 25 years old, Aurelio enjoyed more financial success than he ever dreamed possible.  Although everyone assumed he "had it all," Aurelio felt empty and worthless inside.  Invite your friends to Gateway on Sunday, March 13 to hear how Aurelio was led to pour all of his money into ministry and how he started the popular Christian retail chain, C28

For over twenty years, Bob Stromberg (below right) has been delighting audiences of all ages with his unique personal style of speaking, storytelling, and humor.  His presentation is disarming, casual, characterized by humility, and a healthy blend of knee-slapping comedy and wholesome encouragement.  Bob's remarkable gift is his ability to interact with an audience, develop a warm rapport, gather people together, and facilitate surprising laughter with an arsenal of gifts. He incorporates outrageous physical comedy, a non-threatening touch of audience participation, and yes…even hand shadows, which the London Metro described as "stunning."  Add to this hilarious, tender, and thought-provoking stories from his own experience and audiences leave amazed and different than when they came.  Bob has written the best selling Why Geese Fly Farther than Eagles and Finding the Magnificent in Lower Mundane. He also recently taped his first comedy special for PAX TV.

bob_web_story.jpgIn 1995, he co-authored the hit play, Triple Espresso, (a highly caffeinated comedy). From it’s start in Minneapolis, Triple Espresso, described by the Los Angeles Times as "a triple jolt of inspired craziness," has grown to seven casts, been seen by over a million people in dozens of cities from Seattle to London, and has become the longest running stage production in the history of San Diego.  In his role, the Chicago Sun Times described Bob as "a mesmerizing physical comedian." Sunday, March 20 is the ideal day to invite your non-Christian friends to Gateway.  Bob will be performing during both of our morning services!
