While on a nature hike in college, a large tree fell on me, crushing my legs. Thinking I was going to perish, I decided to do my business with God, praying for Him to save me. He answered in the form of a passing evangelist who also happened to be a lumber jack. After securing my salvation, the evangelist lumberjack chopped the tree to kindling, saving my life as well.
Not really.
I was saved at a retreat called Walk to Emmaus shortly after I began dating my wife Jolie. Six years later we felt the call into youth ministry. Three years of service after that we came to Gateway church and are now working on our ninth year amongst Gateway’s family, where I have also pastored the middle school and young adult ministries at one time or another. Currently I am pastoring high school and overseeing middle school, and working hard to support staff and ministries at Gateway. Since coming to Gateway, we have adopted two amazing boys into our family-- Aden and Carter.
Everything that’s happened or been done in our lives and ministries is from God’s grace and providence. It’s a privilege to serve alongside such great people that comprise J-Walk and the larger body of Christ at Gateway. If people grow more committed and passionate about their relationships with Jesus Christ, then we’ve done what we’ve set out to do.
