Sherrie McCormick

I was born and raised in San Diego. I was baptized at the age of thirty-four after accepting the Lord as my Savior under the leadership of Pastor Sam Williams at Del Cerro Baptist Church.

God’s timing was perfect, in that He allowed my husband, Dean, and I to adopt two wonderful children after He adopted us into His family. This has made all the difference to us in raising our children and in our marriage, by giving us a purpose for living.

My favorite verse has always been Psalm 37:4 which says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” This verse was given to me as a new Christian, as Dean and I were waiting to adopt our first child. He did give us the desires of our heart, as well as so much more, but He knew how much we would need Him to be the best parents possible to the children He entrusted us with. We were both definitely delighting ourselves in our Lord and continue to do so.

Throughout the years, I have been involved with the children both at Del Cerro and at Gateway serving in AWANA for seven years, as well as VBS and other programs. I was invited to join the staff at Gateway in 1998 as the Financial Secretary. My experience in bookkeeping comes from working fourteen years as a medical secretary and four years as a construction secretary.

Working for Gateway has by far been the most rewarding job I have ever had. We have dedicated and godly staff members, who truly care for each other and all have the same vision for growing God’s kingdom. I feel truly blessed and privileged to be a part of Gateway Church.
